The Chicago City Council has approved financing for a mixed-use development at 1134 S Wood Street in the Illinois Medical District. Located on the northwest corner of W Roosevelt Road and S Wood Street, the project will replace an existing parking lot belonging to The Chicago Lighthouse who will operate the new facility. Chicago Lighthouse is partnering with Brinshore Development on the Landon Bone Baker Architects-designed structure which we last reported in late 2021.

Located adjacent to an existing two-story medical facility run by the project’s developer The Chicago Lighthouse, the new structure would replace the existing corner parking lot and expand the services offered on-site with new residences. Developer Brinshore Development LLC has partnered with Landon Bone Baker Architect, known for their affordable housing designs, for this senior housing project. The new building will replace an empty lot just west of the intersection with N Clarendon Avenue, near the recently approved Sarah’s on Lakeview.

Located at 1959 W Lake Street, the project site fronts N Damen Avenue spanning from W Lake Street to W Maypole Avenue. The property is located adjacent to the CTA Green Line tracks where a new Damen station is expected. Brinshore Development and The Michaels Organization are the developers behind the proposal.
