An official groundbreaking has been held for the upcoming mixed-use tower at 1016 West Jackson Boulevard in the West Loop. Sitting on the corner with South Morgan Street, the project has been in the works for a few years and is now officially known as the Julep West Loop. Efforts are being led by Mavrek Development along with Eckenhoff Saunders Architects.
Now and then, the first panes of glass show up at a construction site, only to be removed and replaced by a different style of cladding. But the first level of curtainwall at 566 West Van Buren wraps around the southwest corner of the second floor, indicating that it’s more than just a sampling, as can be the case when only a panel or two are installed on a single facade.
The final piece of zoning has been approved for the upcoming residential development at 1201 West Kinzie Street in the West Loop. Sitting at the intersection with North Racine Street and bound by the Metra tracks to the south, the low-rise project has been in the works for just over a year and already received approval from City Council back in May.
A caisson permit was issued by the City of Chicago on August 19 for the property addressed as 1022 West Jackson Boulevard in the West Loop. That allows Mavrek Development to begin construction on their 25-story apartment tower 1000 West Jackson. The caisson permit had been idling in the Chicago Data Portal since July 10, 2024, and it finally arrives with a reported cost just under $1 million. Skender will provide general contracting services, with Adjustable Concrete on board as the concrete contractor.
Additional renderings have been revealed for the upcoming mixed-use high-rise at 23 South Sangamon Street in the West Loop, now known as Marielle On The Park. Earlier this week, we covered the project as it pivoted to a new design and program from its previous iteration, and now said revised proposal has received approval from the Chicago Plan Commission.
