Topped Out 566 West Van Buren Adds First Panes Of Glass

566 West Van Buren topped out, first glass566 West Van Buren is topped out, and has its first few panes of glass.

Now and then, the first panes of glass show up at a construction site, only to be removed and replaced by a different style of cladding. But the first level of curtainwall at 566 West Van Buren wraps around the southwest corner of the second floor, indicating that it’s more than just a sampling, as can be the case when only a panel or two are installed on a single facade.

Our friend Alex, @MrSoythLoop on Instagram, tipped us off to the first few pieces of exterior glazing on the South Loop residential building, and we saw for ourselves on Sunday that there is indeed glass on the West Loop’s newest apartment development. The project just topped out, according to a LinkedIn account from one of general contractor Clark Construction’s workforce members, and it looks like that happened over the past week or so.

Riverside Investment & Development planned to have their Antunovich Associates-designed 199-unit building open early next year. There has been no announcement about an adjusted opening day, so Clark Construction’s topping out of the building (with an assist from Adjustable Concrete) gets us one step closer to that target date.

Photos of the project, now topped out at 12 stories, from Sunday, September 6:
