Developer Sterling Bay has revealed the design for the second tower on its 1300 W Carroll Avenue project site, formerly the site of the Archer Daniels Wheat Mill in West Loop’s Fulton Market District. The rendering has been presented on the marketing website for 1200 W Carroll Avenue, a 14-story office building that Sterling Bay plans to construct first just one block to the east.

This week, Chicago YIMBY had the opportunity to tour the 19-story mixed-use development known as 800 Fulton, one of the largest and most recent additions to the growing West Loop skyline. Tour hosts Thor Equities, Stream Realty Partners, and project architect Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) showcased the various common areas throughout the building’s 500,000 square feet. Having been co-planned by Thor Equities and Quadreal and built by Lendlease, the construction process for this $95 million development spanned between 2019 and 2021. Tenant build-outs are now underway, with multiple high-profile leases for companies like John Deere and Aspen Dental Management already locked in.

A potential groundbreaking date has been revealed for the residential towers at 400 N Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville. Located on the long vacant site of the failed Chicago Spire development, the two new towers would partially utilize the foundation hole left by the Spire and provide a cap to the Ogden Slip. Developer Related Midwest who is also behind The 78 near the South Loop is working with globally famous skyscraper firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill on the design, the firm responsible for a number of Chicago’s major skyscrapers.

Details Revealed For Altenheim Line Trail On The West Side

Initial details for the framework of a new elevated trail on the west side spanning Homan Square and North Lawndale have been reviewed by the Committee on Design. In what is a first for the committee, the plan for the ‘Altenheim Line’ was presented by the Department of Planning and Development who is working with the Chicago Department of Transportation and Department of Housing, along with the design team consisting of SOM, HOOD Design Studio, and Latent Design.
