The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a mixed-use development at 6300 S Maryland Avenue in Woodlawn. Dubbed Park Station, the building will rise on a currently empty lot surrounded by various retail buildings, and bound by E 63rd Street to the north and S Maryland Avenue to the west. Designed by FitzGerald Associates, developers Michaels Developments and DL3 Realty aim to bring 58 residential units to the South Side neighborhood.

Construction permits were recently issued for a five-story mixed-use development at 825 E 61st Street in Woodlawn. 5 Seasons Development Company is the permit’s listed owner, whose plans include ground-floor retail space, 56 units, a rooftop deck and stair enclosures, and an elevator. Parking will comprise of a 21-car ground-level garage and eight exterior parking spaces. The new structure will replace a vacant grass lot.

Owned by Mike Slazas, the planned project will contain four total units, along with a basement and a rear three-story open porch. The new structure is set to replace a currently vacant lot. However, given the larger size of the parcel and its current address of 6445 S Ellis Avenue, it is unclear if the owner will ultimately fit two new buildings within its bounds.
