A groundbreaking has been held for the mixed-use affordable development at 3401 W Ogden Avenue in North Lawndale. Known as ‘Grace Manor’, the proposal will rise on the corner with S Homan Avenue and replace a parking lot commonly used by the nearby police station. The project is being led by co-developers East Lake Management and Jerusalem CDC, with local architecture firm JGMA having worked on its design.
Additional financing has been approved for the second phase of Ogden Commons at 1312 S Talman Avenue in North Lawndale. Located north of the recently completed first phase along the intersection with W 13th Place, the project replaces an empty lot that previously held a public housing complex. Efforts are being led by Ogden Commons JV LLC with local architecture firm SCB working on its design.
A construction permit has been issued for a new two-story meat processing facility and retail butcher shop at 4521 W Roosevelt Road in the North Lawndale neighborhood. Peoria Packaging Roosevelt Property, LLC owns the development.
A construction permit has been approved for a three-story residential building located at 1356 S Fairfield Avenue in North Lawndale. The project will yield three residential units, and is set to replace a vacant grass parcel. Owned by East Douglas Partners LLC, the plan includes a rear stair and a three-vehicle parking pad situated at the back.
Details have been revealed for a new community center at 1600 S Sawyer Avenue in North Lawndale. Located on the southwest corner with W 16th Street a few blocks west of Douglass Park, the new project will replace a vacant lot and offer neighbors new opportunities. Chicago-based Duo Development is leading the project with Canopy Architecture and McKay Landscape Architects working on its design.
