City Council Approves Residential Project At 640 W Irving Park Road In Uptown

The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown. Located west of N DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the proposal originally introduced last year will renovate and convert the existing Immaculata High School while building a new tower on its surface parking lots. Developers KGiles LLC and CA Ventures are working with local firms Perkins Eastman and Level Architecture on the design for the project which has seen multiple revisions since the announcement due to community feedback.

Metal Installation Presses Forward for 4600 N Kenmore Avenue in Uptown

Installation of polygonal metal paneling can now be seen along the outer walls of 4600 Kenmore Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Uptown. The project is being lead by Cedar Street Companies, with plans for 2,500 square feet of retail on the ground level with 62 rental apartments above. The new construction will be next to an old bank at 1020 W Wilson Avenue, which is being transformed into a new music venue for Double Door Music.

Uptown Development at 640 W Irving Park Road Secures more Approvals

The Permit Review Committee has approved plans to convert the former Immaculata High School at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown for residential use. As previously reported, the redevelopment efforts are led by KGiles LLC and CA Ventures. Local firms Perkins Eastman and Level Architecture are assisting with the design of the mid-rise.
The project will yield a 22-story senior living high-rise with 192 units to be built on the American Islamic College’s existing parking lot. The existing school building was designated a city landmark in 1983 and will be converted into an additional 245 apartments. The landmark designation encompasses all parts of the school and additions but did not specify the scope of protection. It has been determined that exterior elevations, as well as the central lobby’s cast iron stair and two-story auditorium, are the significant features to be protected from demolition or alteration.

Zoning and Development Advisory Committee Approves Uptown Development at 640 W Irving Park Road

On Tuesday the 46th ward zoning and development advisory committee voted in favor of the residential redevelopment of the former Immaculata High School at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown. Developers KGiles LLC and CA Ventures are working with local firm Perkins Eastman and Level Architecture on the design of the new mid-rise and have also set their sights on redeveloping the neighboring American Islamic College, which will now have to vacate its corner of Irving Park Road and Marine Drive.
