1400 S Wabash Tops Out in South Loop

The superstructure has reached its full 350-foot height for 1400 S Wabash Avenue in South Loop, where CMK Companies is developing a 30-story apartment tower. Replacing a long-vacant former parking lot, the tower will help bolster the outer edge of South Loop’s skyline while adding 350 new residences to the area. There will also be a retail component with storefront along Wabash Avenue. The residential lobby, meanwhile, will be located around the corner along a new driveway extending off of 14th street.

The Reed Ranks Fourth Place in Year-End Countdown

In fourth place in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown of tallest construction projects is The Reed, a 41-story residential high rise in South Loop. The 440-unit, 447-foot tower is being developed by Lendlease as the next installation in their Southbank masterplan. Situated under the address 234 W Polk Street, the project is the second tower to be built after The Cooper adjacently east, as well as two acres of parkland and a riverwalk running alongside the Chicago River’s south branch.

South Loop’s 1400 S Wabash Avenue Claims 10th Spot On Countdown

Facade work continues on this year’s 10th tallest development at 1400 S Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. The mixed-use building has topped out and its facade continues to rise at the intersection with E 14th Street. The rear of the structure abuts up to the CTA Green Line tracks, continuing to create an urban canyon for the train tracks. Chicago-based CMK Companies, who also developed the nearby Imprint tower, is leading the project and Pappageorge Haymes is responsible for the design.

166 N Aberdeen Street Ranks 18th in Countdown as Construction Wraps Up in Fulton Market

With the last of the exterior wrapping up, construction is coming to a close for 166 N Aberdeen Street, aka One Six Six. This 21-story mixed-use tower by Greystar marks the 18th tallest construction project in the city, rising 224 feet in height. Now standing its full 224-foot height, the high rise is set to house 224 rental apartments atop ground-level retail.
