Home Court At The Obama Presidential Center Has Begun Construction

The Home Court at the Obama Presidential Center is under construction at 6121 South Stony Avenue in the Woodlawn Community Area. The two-story athletic and event facility occupies the southwest corner of the sprawling construction site in Jackson Park, just west of Wooded Island and its West Lagoon. Moody Nolan designed the building for The Obama Foundation. Elevated Design Builders, a team formed by BOWA Construction and AECOM Hunt, is the general contractor.

Hyde Park Labs crane removal the only change in Chicago’s August tower crane count

Chicago’s tower crane count to begin August 2024 took a slight dip from July, now that the machine that building Hyde Park Labs has been taken down. That leaves eight cranes in the air as summer continues. There is one pending permit, and it’s for Google’s Thompson Center renovation in The Loop.

Obama Presidential Center Museum Tower has topped out

Lakeside Alliance, the construction conglomerate building the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park, announced the topping out of the Center’s Museum Tower on their LinkedIn account earlier this month. The Chicago Sun-Times reported then that the Presidential Center was about 56% complete.

Eight tower cranes dot Chicago’s skies to begin June 2024

Chicago has eight working tower cranes across the city as the month of June begins. They’re located as far south as the 6600-block of S Dr Martin Luther King Drive in Woodlawn, but barely reach north of the Chicago River, with the furthest northern crane working in the 400-block of N Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

The Museum Tower at the Obama Presidential Center continues its rise upward at 6001 South Stony Island in Jackson Park. While wood construction forms at the top of the tower add intrigue to progress viewing, the tower is now being clad with granite panels, adding texture and color to the stark gray concrete.

Obama Presidential Center Nears Full Height in Jackson Park

Construction is nearing full height for the Obama Presidential Center at 6000 S Stony Island Avenue in Jackson Park. The center, spearheaded by the Obama Foundation, will replace a portion of the park that formerly housed a football field, situated southwest of the Museum of Science and Industry. The architectural design is a collaborative effort between Interactive Design Architects and Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, while the landscape architecture is being handled by a team consisting of Living Habitats, Site Design Group, and Michael van Valkenburg Associates.

Details Revealed For Obama Presidential Center Programs & Athletics Center In Jackson Park

Updated details have been revealed for the new Obama Presidential Center Programs & Athletics Center near 6001 S Stony Island Avenue within Jackson Park. Located on the southern edge of the center’s site, the expanded building will sit just north of the intersection with E Hayes Road. Efforts for the new facility are being led by the Obama Foundation and the center itself.

Taking the 16th spot on this year’s countdown is the Obama Presidential Center at 6000 S Stony Island Avenue in Jackson Park. Located within Jackson Park just south of the Museum of Science and Industry, the new center will be replacing a portion of the park that previously held a football field.
