Facade Work Finalizes on 23rd Place at Southbridge in Near South Side

Since YIMBY’s September update, much of the facade work has taken place at the northern building of Southbridge Phase I, now known as 23rd Place at Southbridge. Located at 2310 S State Street and 2344 S State Street in Near South Side, these two sibling edifices both rise six stories and will offer a mix of ground-level retail and apartments on the upper floors. Planned by McCaffrey and The Community Builders, the unit count will tally at 206, divided evenly between each structure. Residences will comprise of a mix of affordable and market-rate options.

Metal Paneling Undergoing Installation at 2401 S State Street in Near South Side

Metal paneling can now be seen enveloping four-story residential building at 2401 S State Street. Developed by City Pads, the Near South Side development sits caddy-corner from the Southbridge megadevelopment, where it will add an additional 19 units. These residences will be accompanied by 10 off-street parking spaces and 33 bike slots.

Developer Reveals Updated First Phase Plans For One Central Project

Landmark Development has revealed further details for the first phase of its One Central mega-development, which will cap the rail tracks in the Near South Side. Although often considered the most ambitious of the current mega-projects proposed for the city, such as The 78 and Lincoln Yards, Landmark is pushing forward with the Gensler-designed complex despite recent worries that The Chicago Bears could depart from nearby Soldier Field. The first phase will come at a cost of $3.8 billion and is being dubbed as the ‘Civic Build’ phase of the project.

Window Installation Wraps Up for 2401 S State Street in Near South Side

Final face brick is being installed at City Pads‘ 2401 S State Street, a four-story residential building situated at the corner of State & 24th Street in Near South Side. Plans shown in the building’s issued permits call for 33 total apartment residences, along with 10 off-street parking spaces and storage for 33 bikes. This new development is replacing a formerly vacant grass plot.

Remaining brickwork is wrapping up for the mixed-use Southbridge Phase I in Near South Side. The construction comprises of two six-story buildings under the addresses 2310 S State Street and 2344 S State Street. McCaffrey and The Community Builders‘ plans for this initial stage comprise of a total of a total of 206 mixed-income apartment units and ground-level retail, divided evenly between the two mirrored structures.

Exterior Renovation Continues at Adler Planetarium in Near South Side

Rooftop work can be seen progressing at the iconic Adler Planetarium, located at 1300 S Lake Shore Drive in Near South Side. The Adler Planetarium is the occupying owner, whose plans include the replacement of the original dome tiling, as well the accompanying flat rooftops.

Set to accommodate 19 residences, the project will also incorporate ten on-site parking spaces and 33 bike slots. The current construction is replacing a formerly vacant concrete lot.

Facade work is approaching completion at Southbridge Phase I, which comprises of two six-story buildings located at 2310 S State Street and 2344 S State Street in Chicago’s Near South Side. Developed by McCaffrey and The Community Builders, each building will offer ground-level retail and 103 mixed-income apartments on the upper floors. Amenities will comprise of a fitness center, a community dining space, and multiple outdoor terraces with city views. Parking will also offer surface-level spaces located in the rear.

City Council Approves Esports Stadium at 2500 S Wabash in Near South Side

The Chicago City Council has approved Surge eSports Stadium located at 2500 S Wabash Avenue in the Near South Side. Located along S Wabash Avenue, the project will utilize two different sites. The main property, located at 2500 S Wabash Avenue, is bound by E 25th Street to the north, S Wabash Avenue to the east, a four-story residential building to the south, and a public alley and CTA L tracks to the west. The lot currently holds a two-story brick building and surface parking lot for trailers. The secondary lot, located at 2617 S Wabash Avenue, is occupied by an existing surface parking lot and one-story masonry building at the intersection of S Wabash Avenue and E 26th Street.

2401 S State Street Exterior Wall Reaches Third Floor in Near South Side

Structural work has reached the third floor for a new four-story residential building, located at 2401 S State Street in Near South Side. Planned by City Pads, the the new development will house 19 units, 10 accessory parking spaces, and 33 bicycle spaces. The development will replace a previously vacant plot of land at the corner of S State Street and E 24th Street.
