4600 N Kenmore Avenue Reaches Second Floor in Uptown

Since September’s update, structural work has risen by a floor for a new mid-rise building at 4600 N Kenmore Avenue in Uptown. The five-story building has been planned by Cedar St. Companies, whose planned programming will come with 2,500 square feet of ground-level retail and 62 rental units on the upper four floors. The development also encompasses a former bank building located adjacently west. This two-story masonry structure resides under the separate address of 1050 W Wilson Avenue, and will serve as a new performance venue for Double Door Music.

Renovation of Uptown’s Bridgeview Bank Building Claims 28th Spot in Year-End Countdown

Coming in at 28th is the first renovation project in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end construction countdown, the 13-story former Bridgeview Bank Building, located at 4753 N Broadway in Uptown. Originally known as the Sheridan Bank and Trust Building, the classically-styled edifice was designed nearly 100 years ago by the Chicago-based Marshall and Fox. Four years after its initial completion in 1924, another four floors (and a mechanical penthouse) were added, bringing the final height to 151 feet.

4600 N Kenmore Avenue Rises Above Grade in Uptown District

Interior walls can now be seen rising above grade for 4600 N Kenmore Avenue, a five-story mixed-use building rising at the corner of Kenmore & Wilson in Uptown. The developer Cedar St. Companies has planned for 2,500 square feet of retail at the ground-level and 62 apartments on the upper floors. These units will range in size between studios and two-bedroom layouts, with select residences accommodated by private terrace space. Residents will have access to a top-level indoor lounge and connected outdoor terrace space.

Foundation Permits Issued for 1135 W Winona Street in Uptown

Foundation permits have been issued for 1135 W Winona Street in Uptown, the first of two buildings in a 180-unit project by Cedar St. Companies. Between the two five-story buildings, residences will range between studios, one-, and two-bedrooms.

Adaptive Reuse Underway at Bridgeview Bank Building in Uptown

Both interior and exterior work is currently underway for the adaptive reuse of the 13-story Bridgeview Bank Building, located at 4753 N Broadway Avenue in Uptown. Previously known as the Sheridan Bank and Trust Building, the classically-styled structure was initially built at eight stories in 1925 before four additional floors were constructed in 1928. In 2007, the structure received landmark designation, before it was bought by Cedar St. Companies for $19 million in 2019.

Foundation work is now underway at Uptown‘s 4600 N Kenmore Avenue, where developer Cedar St. Companies is building a new five-story mixed-use building. As part of the project, the developer is converting an existing two-story bank at the adjacent 1050 W Wilson Avenue into a new venue for Double Door music.

Partial construction permits have now been issued for a mixed-use development located at 4600 N Kenmore in Uptown. The project will involve the renovation of an existing two-story bank, as well as a new five-story building directly east. Developer Cedar St. Companies received approval this past February to develop the existing masonry building into a theater space. Meanwhile, the new construction will yield 2,500 square feet of ground-level retail, and 62 apartments on the upper floors.

The Rosie Wraps Up Construction at 1461 S Blue Island Avenue in Little Italy

Construction has completed for the Rosie, a mixed-use development at 1461 S Blue Island Avenue in Little Italy. The project has been planned by FLATS LLC, a subsidiary of Cedar Street Companies, in partnership with Origin Investments. Previously a vacant lot, the site lies within a federal opportunity zone that grants developers tax incentives for developing in economically distressed areas.

5440 N Sheridan Rises Above Grade in Edgewater

Exterior walls are now above grade for a five-story residential building at 5440 N Sheridan Road in the Edgewater neighborhood. Cedar St. Companies is the developer behind the new construction, with plans for 78 apartments. Unit layouts will comprise of 72 traditional studios and one- and two-bedroom apartment layouts, several of which will have attached terraces. The remaining six residences will be integrated two-story townhouses with three bedrooms each and street-level access.

Zoning Approved for Mixed-Use Development at 4600 N Kenmore Avenue in Uptown

Zoning has been approved for the updated mixed-use development at 4600 N Kenmore Avenue in Uptown. Located on a site at the corner of W Wilson Avenue and N Kenmore Avenue, the proposal consists of the new mixed-use structure at 4600 N Kenmore Avenue and the existing former bank building at 1050 W Wilson Avenue.
