The Chicago City Council has approved plans for a new daycare at 1749 N Damen Avenue in Bucktown. Located near the intersection with W Willow Street and the famed 606 trail, the proposal will demolish four-existing multi-story commercial structures that have struggled to maintain tenants, including the former home of Mindy’s Hot Chocolate. Committee On Design Reviews Updated Plans Discovery Partners Institute Within The 78

The Chicago Committee on Design has reviewed updated plans for the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) within The 78 mega-development near the South Loop. It will be located on the southwestern edge of the massive site on the future extension of W 15th Street and the new Wells-Wentworth connector when all is completed. Since it is a public project, it is being led by the Illinois Capital Development Board along with Related Midwest and various educational institutions, who are working with architecture firms OMA and Jacobs on the new structure.

Plans Revealed For Pui Tak School At 3118 S Canal Street In Bridgeport

Plans have been revealed for the new campus of the Pui Tak Christian School at 3118 S Canal Street in Bridgeport. Located just south of the intersection with W 31st Street, the new structure will replace two-existing buildings and a large surface parking lot in the quickly changing neighborhood. Being led by the school themselves, the internal team has partnered with both SOM and Wight and Company on the design of the upcoming facility after a multi-year $3.1 million fundraising campaign.

Funding Secured For Community Center And School In West Town

New funding has been secured for the Esperanza Community Services center at 520 N Marshfield Avenue in West Town. Located just west of the intersection with W Grand Avenue, the funds will go towards the repair and maintenance of their existing multi-building campus. The grant was just approved last month and is coming from the Community Development Program, part of the city’s pandemic recovery initiative which gave money to 80 other proposals.
