Crane Down, Glass Up at JDL’s One Chicago

Since YIMBY’s construction tour of One Chicago in July, the tower crane has been disassembled and the parapet completed for the taller east tower of the massive two-tower development in River North. The aforementioned near-supertall stands 76 stories and 971 feet, while the shorter west tower reaches 49 stories and 574 feet. Both skyscrapers are connected via a 10-story podium that occupies most of the block bound by W Chicago Avenue, N State Street, W Superior Street, and N Dearborn Street. JDL is the developer of the 2.1 million-square-foot complex, having begun construction in 2019.

Salesforce Tower Core Reaches Two-Thirds Mark in River North

The concrete core for Salesforce Tower Chicago is now at roughly the two-thirds height mark, set to rise 60 stories at the southwest tip of River North. The 1.2 million-square-foot skyscraper at 333 W Wolf Point Plaza is the final staple in a three-building masterplan known as Wolf Point, developed by Hines and in partnership with the Joseph P. Kennedy Family. The Wolf Point parcel is just under three acres, occupying an outcrop that borders the confluence of the Chicago River. This land has served a swath of purposes since the first settling of Chicago, ranging from a parking lot prior to the current development all the way back to the site of the city’s first tavern.

Plan Commission Approves Mixed-Use Development at 741 N Wells Street in River North

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a mixed-use development at 741 N Wells Street in River North. Fronting N Wells Street, the project site is bound by W Chicago Avenue to the north, a public alley and parking lot to the east, and a small parking lot to the south. The property currently consists of a historic masonry structure at 755 N Wells Street that will be retained, a one-story retail structure, and a three-story masonry structure. Vista Property Group is the developer behind the proposal.

Permits Issued for 411 W Chicago Avenue in River North

Construction permits have been issued for the second of two buildings within LG Development‘s HUGO masterplan. This second mixed-use building is located at the eastern end of the property at 411 W Chicago Avenue, and will house ground-level retail, 93 apartments, as well as various amenity spaces. These building-specific amenities include a large landscaped sun deck with lounge chairs, an outdoor kitchen with grilling stations, and a 10th-floor amenity deck with east-facing views.
