Hugo Finalizes Construction in River North

Exterior construction has wrapped up for Hugo, a two-building development in the River North neighborhood. These mixed-use structures, located close to each other, represent the latest ventures from developer LG Group. Collectively, the buildings will span a floor area of almost 149,304 square feet. Once finished, they will offer a combined 227 rental apartments. The 751 N Hudson Avenue building will yield 134 units, while its counterpart at 411 W Chicago Avenue will house 93 units. A noteworthy addition to this development is approximately 18,867 square feet of ground-level retail space. An existing two-story building not part of the development is situated between the two main structures.

A demolition permit has been issued for the site at 126 W Grand Avenue in River North. The two-story masonry mixed-use building will be removed, having formerly housed a Rosati’s and office space above. According to a listing by @properties, the 4,300-square-foot building was being sold for $5.7 million. The listing also mentioned that four city lots were being sold at 122-128 W Grand Avenue, suggesting a possible larger development that may arise. However, it is unknown if the owner, BLJ Grand Holdings, has purchased the other three lots.

Temporary Casino Gets Potential Opening Date In River North

A potential opening date for this weekend has been announced for the upcoming temporary casino at 600 N Wabash Avenue in River North. Located on the corner with E Ontario Street and within the historical Medinah Temple, the new facility will operate until the larger permanent casino is completed nearby. Rhode-Island based Bally’s has spent the summer building out the space designed by STL Architects and SOSH Architects.
