Chicago YIMBY deep dives into the Chicago Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) ordinance six-months after its launch across various areas in the city. ADU’s have a long history not only in Chicago, but nationally and is seeing a resurgence as the demand for affordable housing and new ways to gain equity are increasing as well. The local ordinance repeals laws created against them over 60-years ago in select pilot areas and went into effect May 1, 2022 after being voted on late last year.

New Permits Issued for 6355 N Glenwood Avenue in Edgewater

Permits were issued on Friday for the construction of a new four-story mixed-use construction located at 6355 N Glenwood Avenue in the Edgewater neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Variable Properties LLC and plans indicate there will be retail on the first floor, and six total units spread across the second through fourth floors. While no reference is made to on-site parking, the permit indicates there will be an elevator installed as well as a masonry trash enclosure.
