A pair of demolition permits issued by the City of Chicago signal the beginning of a five-story, 24-unit residential building at 1257 North Ashland Avenue in Wicker Park. The permits, issued Tuesday, January 21, are for the buildings at 1257 and 1259, with one more expected for 1301 North Ashland next door. All three were part of the Mike’s Furniture retail mega-complex. Buildmax Company is named as the demolition contractor.
Initial zoning has been approved for the residential expansion of the existing property at 1239 N Wood Street in Wicker Park. Announced several years ago, the project has faced a fair amount of scrutiny from its surrounding neighbors due to density and traffic. However, the Committee on Zoning has given the proposal the green light to be reviewed by the City Council.

Noah Properties is erecting the new development here, having applied for a construction permit on October 14 of last year. That permit remains pending.
Updated elevations have been revealed for the residential development at 1239 N Wood Street in Wicker Park as it moves forward with city approvals. Sitting on the intersection with W Potomac Avenue, the proposal will complete the expansion of the existing orphanage building with added units.
Schematic plans have been revealed for the potential residential development roughly at 1501 N Oakley Boulevard in Wicker Park. The project was recently announced by Alderman La Spata and will replace the large sports field behind the Josephinum Academy along W Le Moyne Street. The property is bound by an alley to the north and N Bell Avenue to the east.
