Two Demolition Permits Issued For 1257 North Ashland In Wicker Park

A pair of demolition permits issued by the City of Chicago signal the beginning of a five-story, 24-unit residential building at 1257 North Ashland Avenue in Wicker Park. The permits, issued Tuesday, January 21,  are for the buildings at 1257 and 1259, with one more expected for 1301 North Ashland next door. All three were part of the Mike’s Furniture retail mega-complex. Buildmax Company is named as the demolition contractor.

Demolition permits were issued for 1235 and 1237 North Ashland Avenue in the Wicker Park neighborhood on Monday, signaling that construction of a five-story, 16-unit apartment building on the site is imminent. Noah Properties is erecting the new development here, having applied for a construction permit on October 14 of last year. That permit remains pending.
