This week, YIMBY stopped by the commercial redevelopment of 932 W Randolph Street in West Loop. With exterior work now complete, interior construction can be seen progressing as this three-story former bank prepares for tenant occupancy. Developer L3 Capital has converted the former bank into a new retail and office venue, reskinning its outer walls and gutting the interior, while also adding a new segment at the northern end of the property. Last year, plans were revealed for the retail component to be occupied by a showroom for the electric carmaker Rivian.

Facade progress is rapidly taking shape for 932 W Randolph Street, a redevelopment of a former three-story bank in West Loop‘s Fulton Market. The development involves the re-skin of the existing structure, and a new three-level connected addition that will take on the same design. L3 Capital is the developer behind the 35,000-square-foot project, whose programming will be entirely commercial. Recent reports have confirmed that a new showroom for the electric carmaker Rivian will occupy the building. Last year, L3 Capital received approval to convert the existing zoning designation of the property from C1-2 neighborhood commercial district to DX-5 mixed-use district.

The development, previously addressed as 1340 W Washington Boulevard, is a joint partnership between the Plumbers Local Union 130 and the Chicago Title & Trust Company. Located within the union’s campus, this new addition will provide the campus with parking 502 vehicles and 36 bikes. The building will come with additional retail space with a third-level terrace for outdoor dining.

Permits Issued for 1340 W Washington Boulevard in West Loop

A tower crane permit has been issued for 1340 W Washington Boulevard in West Loop. The seven-story parking structure with accessory retail is being co-developed by the Chicago Journeyman Plumber Local 130 UA and the Chicago Title and Trust Company. Parking will yield a total of 502 parking spaces and 36 bike spaces, and will be situated at the northern end of the 4.1-acre Plumbers Union campus. Rising adjacent to the organization’s main building, the site was previously occupied by a surface parking lot.
