Funding has been partially approved for Abrams Intergenerational Village at 5300 South Calumet Avenue in Washington Park. Just west of the neighborhood’s namesake park, the project has been in development for a few years and has undergone a slight redesign since our previous coverage. The effort is being led by the local social impact organization The Renaissance Collaborative.
A three-story plus basement, two-unit residential building has been permitted for construction at 5412 South Dearborn Street in Washington Park. Issued on May 30th, the permit shows an application date of December 4th, 2024 and comes with a reported construction cost of $1.2 million.
Plans have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 5301 S State Street in Washington Park. Located at the corner of E 53rd Street, the two-building proposal will replace a large vacant lot across from the XS Tennis and Education Foundation campus. The foundation is partnering with Center Court Development LLC to bring the project to life.
Permission has come through for a developer to construct a three-story, six-unit residential building in the 5300 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. An entity of “5321 S Calumet Trust” received the permit on April 17, after filing an application on March 5th. The permit indicates a reported construction cost of $750,000.
Partial funding has been awarded for the Sunshine Community Center at 6020 S King Drive in Washington Park. Originally revealed in 2023 and approved by the city late last year, the center will replace a vacant lot on the southwest corner of Washington Park. The project is being led by Sunshine Gospel Ministries, which will be relocating from their current location nearby.
