A permit for new construction has been issued for a property located at 5921 South Calumet Avenue in Washington Park. The permit, which was applied for on May 30 and issued on July 30, allows for the erection of a new three-story apartment building with three dwelling units and one detached garage for three parking spaces located on the same lot.

The building will include one open exit exterior stair and rear porches on the second and third floors. The site the property will be built on is currently a vacant lot.

The total fee for the permit is $5,342.09, with $2,447.09 paid towards building fees, $75 towards zoning fees, and $2,820 towards other fees. The reported cost of the project is $1,200,000.

The owner of the property is Bonita Harrison. They are working with architect Alexander Polichuk to bring the project to life.

When complete, the property will be a short walk from CTA stations servicing the Green Line.
