A permit for new construction has been issued for 5534 South Michigan Avenue in Washington Park. The permit, which was applied for on April 8 and issued on July 16, allows for the construction of a three-story, three-unit residential building.

The project will include a rear wood open stair and a rear concrete parking pad with three spaces. The total fee for the permit is $4,253, with $2,300 paid towards building fees, $75 towards zoning fees, and $1,878 towards other fees. The reported cost of the project is $450,000.

The architect for the project is Kathryn Shahbaz O’Brien. The owner of the property is listed as Carpi Diem. When complete, the property will be a short walk from CTA Stations servicing the Red and Green lines.

    Too bad they couldn’t move one of the doomed buildings across from Wrigley to this lot.

  2. Please NO UGLY MODERN BOXES. This area is fill with BEAUTIFUL GREYSTONES. Please be something brick that imitates the design of the old houses in the area.
