Caissons are finished, a groundbreaking ceremony has been held, and the tower crane is in the air for the Southbridge residential tower at 2305 South State Street in the Near South Side. A shiny yellow Liebherr 316 EC-H model began its rise on Tuesday, as crews from general contractor McHugh Construction, concrete contractor McHugh Concrete, and tower crane gurus Morrow Equipment got to work on assembly.
Phase 1C of the Southbridge development in the Near South Side by The Community Builders and McCaffery Interests is now underway at 2305 South State Street. A foundation permit for the 12-story tower was issued in October of last year, but crews have held off for the arrival of meteorological spring to get construction started.
A permit has been issued to begin foundation construction for the 12-story residential tower at State and 23rd Streets on the Near South Side. Assigned to the address of 2305 South State Street, the building represents Phase 1C of the Southbridge development by The Community Builders. The permit was issued on October 16, just short of four months after its June 24 application date.
The Chicago City Council has approved TIF funding for the next phase of Southbridge in the Near South Side. Located at 3 East 23rd Street, on the corner of South State Street, the slender mid-rise will replace a vacant lot across the street from the previous phases of Southbridge.
The Chicago Community Development Commission has approved TIF funding for a new phase of the Southbridge development at 3 E 23rd Street in the Near South Side. Dubbed Phase 1C, the new tower will rise at the intersection with S State Street. Like the first two phases across the street, it is also being developed by The Community Builders.
