Initial Plans And Groundbreaking Date Revealed For Englewood Nature Trail

A potential groundbreaking date has been announced for the upcoming Englewood Nature Trail in Englewood. Stretching roughly from S Damen Avenue in the west to S Halsted Street in the east, the potential trail will replace the long-abandoned Norfolk Southern Railway lines which the city purchased in 2014. Now the city itself along with Grow Greater Englewood have revealed their initial design studies by Gensler after receiving $6 million last year to kick off efforts.

Initial Details Revealed For Commercial Development At 1158 W 59th Street In Englewood

Initial renderings have been revealed for the commercial development at 1158 W 59th Street in Englewood. Located on the intersection with S Racine Avenue just south of the future Englewood Nature Trail, the new project will rehab the existing multi-story building on the site which once housed neighborhood staple Leon’s Bar-B-Q. Now the Resident Association of Greater Englewood (RAGE) plans to bring back dining to the location with a new design by local firm QORF Studios.

Permits Approved For Affordable Mixed-Use Development In Englewood

Initial construction permits have been approved for the first phase of the mixed-use Thrive Englewood development at 914 W 63rd Street in Englewood. Located on the corner with S Halsted Parkway near Kennedy-King College, the multi-phase project received City Council approval late last year and is now one step closer to breaking ground. Developer DL3 Realty has worked on similar projects nearby including the recently announced Washington Park National Bank building, and is working with Perkins + Will on Thrive’s design.
