Located on the eastern edge of the neighborhood just north of the intersection with W Cermak Road, the proposal would replace an empty lot next to the railroad tracks on the west. While an architect is unknown, the project is being brought forward by Century 21 Realty Associates and HMC Realty & Management.

New tax incentives have been approved for the mixed-use redevelopment of the Hoyt Building at 465 W Cermak Road in Chinatown. Located along the south branch of the Chicago River on the corner with S Canal Street, the developer fully acquired the building late last year after first buying into it in 2007. That developer is Aurora-based Windfall Group who is working with SPACE Architects + Planners on the new community hub.

Located along the south branch of the Chicago River on the corner with S Canal Street, the historic building shed its previous developer a few months ago as we covered the updated proposal revealed last January. Now Aurora-based developer Windfall Group received approval from the Permit Review Committee for the SPACE Architects + Planners designed proposal.

Mixed-Use Development Proposed For 250 W 22nd Place In Chinatown

Plans have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 250 W 22nd Place in Chinatown. Located just west of the intersection with S Wentworth Avenue, the project comes at a time when Chicago’s Chinatown seems to be growing and maintaining its identity compared to others nationally. The proposal will replace the existing two-story Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) building and its adjacent lots with a new singular structure. The development team is made up of the CCBA and the Michaels Development Company who have tapped WJW Architects for the design.
