Former Four Star Foods Building At 1230 West Fulton Market Permitted For Demolition

The single-story masonry building at 1230 West Fulton Market has been permitted for demolition. Formerly the home of Four Star Foods, who closed up shop and moved to Heart of Chicago a few years ago, the building is on the site of the future 1200 West Fulton development from Fulton Street Companies and JDL Development. That project received approval from the Chicago Plan Commission in October of last year.

Plan Commission Approves 1200 W Fulton Street In Fulton Market District

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the updated plans for the mixed-use development at 1200 W Fulton Street within the Fulton Market District. Earlier this year YIMBY reported on the proposal’s new design and program, which was a large departure from the originally revealed multi-building complex. Now developers JDL Development and Fulton Street Companies are one step closer to building the residential heavy project.

This week, YIMBY captured shots of the near-complete demolition at 1200 W Fulton Street in Fulton Market, set to give rise to a major new three-building development. The full-block plan will replace a parking lot and three existing one-story industrial buildings, delivering 1.5 million square feet of mixed-use space and designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA). The developer, Fulton Street Companies, is spearheading the development alongside Waterton, a local landlord company, and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital.
