Renovation work continues on the skeletal remains of the Thompson Center

Renovation work on the Thompson Center in The Loop continues, as more of the curved façade facing Randolph and Clark Streets has been stripped of its original cladding. The building’s transformation into Google offices has it looking a little bare and exposed at present; new triple-paned glass being used to replace the façade will aid in a more efficiently heated and cooled facility.

Thompson Center Renovations Have Begun at 100 West Randolph Street in The Loop

Demolition work is clearly evident at 100 West Randolph Street in The Loop, as the transformation of the Thompson Center for Google hits its stride. The ceremonial kickoff for the renovation took place earlier this week, but demolition work has been underway for a few weeks. Along with considerable progress at street level along the perimeter of the building, there’s also a gaping hole in the east facade of the Helmut Jahn classic in The Loop. Clark Construction is the general contractor tasked with redoing the office building so Google can move in upon rehab completion.

Details Revealed For Thompson Center Redevelopment

New renderings have been revealed for the redevelopment of the Thompson Center at 100 W Randolph Street in The Loop. Sitting right in the heart of downtown, the massive structure has been at the center of many debates on preservation since the state announced its sale years ago. Now its new tenant and future owner Google has laid out its plans designed by JAHN Architects, the firm of the building’s original designer.
