One of three massing options for NOMA development

New Details Emerge for Shapack’s “NOMA” Masterplan in River West

More detailed plans for Shapack‘s West Town megadevelpmont have now been reviewed by the Committee on Design. Now called “NOMA,” the 3.25-acre assemblage in the River West area of West Town would yield 1,500 new residential units, a hotel, and a multitude of new commercial options. The assemblage revolves around the former Salvation Army Building, which Shapack will convert to a new 141-key hotel and restaurant venue designed by Eckenhoff Saunders Architects. The existing multi-tone masonry facade will be refurbished and have its windows replaced. There will also be a new masonry penthouse enclosure added atop a portion of the roof.

Chicago City Council Approves Bally’s Casino Bid

The Chicago City Council has approved Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s selection of Bally’s Tribune Center casino bid at 777 W Chicago Avenue in River West. Replacing the vacant printing plant, the decision comes just weeks after the mayor selected the proposal as the finalist from the original batch of five bids which was then narrowed down to three earlier this year. Rhode Island-based Bally’s is working with local architecture firm SCB on the riverfront project that gathered plenty of feedback and comments from both the community and the aldermen during the heated meeting.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot Selects Bally’s As Winning Casino Bid

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has announced her selection of the Bally’s Tribune Center bid as the winner of the long casino selection process. Located at 777 W Chicago Avenue in River West, the winning proposal will replace the existing Chicago Tribune Printing Center which had been part of a larger approved planned development for multiple years. Rhode Island-based Bally’s, which operates over 10 casinos nationally, is planning to develop the site as their new flagship property designed by local architecture firm SCB that will hug the north branch of the Chicago River.

Leasing Begins for the Recently Completed Westerly at 740 N Aberdeen Street in River West

Leasing has begun at the recently completed mixed-use development, dubbed Westerly, at 740 N Aberdeen Street in River West. The Westerly is located on a corner lot at the intersection of N Aberdeen Street and N Ogden Avenue. The Chicago CTA L station, serviced by the Blue Line can be accessed within a one-minute walk from the site. The 56 and 66 CTA bus routes can be accessed at the intersection of N Milwaukee Avenue, N Ogden Avenue, and W Chicago Avenue, also a one-minute walk from the site.
