Initial Details Revealed For Northwestern Memorial Hospital Expansion In Streeterville

Initial details have been revealed for the expansion of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Streeterville. Located at 333 East Huron Street, at the corner of North Fairbanks Court, the new tower would replace a long-vacant grassy lot in the heart of the neighborhood. It will be situated across the street from the Feinberg Pavilion and the research tower completed in 2019.

Exterior work continues to advance for the new Sarah’s on Lakeside development, located at 4737 N Sheridan Road in Uptown. The five-story residential building, developed by Sarah’s Circle, a non-profit organization established in 1979 to assist women experiencing homelessness or in need of safe living environments, is situated at the corner of Sheridan and Lakeside, replacing a formerly vacant lot. The project began in June 2022 with a budget of $16 million.

Construction of the Damen Green Line Station continues at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side, under the management of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Initiated in 2017, the project has faced delays and a budget increase, now totaling $80.2 million. This development aims to reintroduce rail service to an area that has lacked it since the original station’s demolition in 1948. The original Damen Green Line station, constructed in 1893, was ultimately demolished 55 years later, alongside nine other stations, due to decreased demand and the CTA’s efforts to improve service efficiency.
