The 345-foot-tall Streeterville project will be the next location for the Spanish hotel brand RIU Hotels and Resorts, providing a total of 388 rooms. There will also be a ground-level cafe at the southeast corner of the tower base.
Full permits have been issued for the RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville. Located just east of the intersection with N Michigan Avenue, developer The Prime Group broke ground on the new tower earlier this year, replacing an empty lot. The property will be run by Spain-based RIU Hotels and is being designed by local architecture firm Lucien LaGrange Studio, who recently merged with Lamar Johnson Collaborative.

The Chicago City Council has approved the proposed RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville. Vacant for more than ten years, the project site is an infill site off of N Michigan Avenue. The midblock location is bound by two adjacent buildings spanning the block between N Michigan Avenue and N St. Clair Street. The Prime Group is the developer behind the proposal.
