Conceptual Renderings Revealed For Stadium As Bears Near Illinois Deal And Amtrak Railyard Advances

Conceptual renderings have been revealed for a potential Bears stadium within Armour Square. Though not affiliated with the $9.7 billion team, the renderings come as the team nears a deal to stay in Illinois. Simultaneously, the Federal Railroad Administration has agreed to an environmental assessment for the potential new Amtrak yards that would help make way for the White Sox to vacate their current stadium.

A private developer has received permission to construct a three-story plus basement, three-unit masonry residential building three blocks north of the White Sox’ Rate Field in the Armour Square neighborhood. The permit for 3142 South Wells Street was issued on January 14 following a 118-day wait, and it came through with a reported cost of $800,000.

Construction permits have been issued for a new two-unit residential building at 3008 South Wells Street in Armour Square. The project is being undertaken by owners Ada Li and Mark Cira. While detailed plans have not been released at this time, permits outline plans for the completed structure to include rear stairs and a masonry garage.

Permits were issued yesterday for a new three-story residential building located at 3146 S Shields Avenue in the Armour Square neighborhood. Henry Tam is listed as the permit owner. Plans indicate that the scope of the project will include the construction of three total units with a basement level. The building will have an exposed rear staircase accessible on all levels. There will also be a three-car parking pad. A permit has been submitted to remove the current structure though it has yet to be issued.

Victor Kuo, of Kuo Construction, Inc, is listed as the permit owner. Plans indicate that the scope of the project will include a two-flat construction with a basement level. There will also be three on-grade parking spaces. The current structure has been scheduled for demolition.
