Unimproved and only used for parking as far back as Google Street View allows us to see, 1924 South Carpenter will be a three-story plus basement structure. Its permit was issued on April 28 with a reported cost of $600,000.
A three-story plus basement, two-unit residential building has been permitted by the City of Chicago to replace a frame home and its detached garage at 1936 South May Street in the Pilsen neighborhood. The new permit shows an application start date of November 11, 2025, and it came though on April 15 with a reported cost of $600,000.
Plans have been revealed for the first phase of the redevelopment of the massive plot of land at West 18th Street and South Peoria Street in Pilsen. Located at 900 West 18th Street, this marks the end of a multi-year effort to develop the property after the city purchased the land in 2022 from a previous developer and launched a search for a new partner.
Foundation work has begun for a multi-unit residential building at 2006 South Allport Street in the Pilsen neighborhood. Site prep on the previously vacant lot is done, and piles have been driven into the soil ahead of excavation for the basement level. An Oakbrook developer received a permit to begin construction in early January, but it’s unclear when work got started.
Excavation has begun for a three-story plus basement, two-unit residential building at 2130 South May Street in Pilsen. Included in the task is the removal of old foundations from the previous structure demolished in 2017. The most recent Google images of the property show the lot overgrow with vegetation, hiding the concrete remnants that need to be removed before the new basement can be dug out.
