A zoning application has been submitted for ‘The Ave’, a new mixed-use development at 3601 W Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. This project is part of the Invest South/West initiative and aims to redevelop a city-owned, L-shaped lot. The site currently houses the Neighborhood Housing Services building and another low-rise structure. KMW Communities, Preservation of Affordable Housing, and Community Enterprises Corporation are collaborating on this proposal for affordable housing and retail space. Originally planned as a five-story project, it has been revised to four stories to enhance cost efficiency.

Three new winners of the city’s Invest South/West initiative have been announced by the mayor in Humboldt Park and South Shore. The three winners are located at 3601 W Chicago Avenue and 4000 W North Avenue in 2908 E 79th Street in South Shore. All together the three proposals represent a $126 million investment in the neighborhoods aimed at increasing the quality of life, adding equitable affordable housing while joining a list of seven past winners of the two-year-old program that are set to break ground soon.
Invest South/West has revealed two new mixed-use development schemes for its RFP sites at 3601 W Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. The roughly 30,000-square-foot site is made up of two private lots and an alley to be vacated that are bound by N Central Park Avenue, W Chicago Avenue, and N Monticello Avenue. For this RFP, Invest South/West met with the community for months to derive four basic needs each development needs to focus on, those being; walkability, community safety, diversity of retail goods and service, and celebration of community.
