Full construction permits have been issued for a four-story residential building set for 1838 N Western Avenue in Logan Square. Planned by Comet Development LLC, the project had a demolition permit issued for the prior single-story masonry building last August, with the latest construction permits issued this past Monday.
The new development will house nine residential units, as well as retail at ground level. Other features will include balconies on the second through fourth floors, a rooftop deck and stair enclosure, an elevator, and 10 total parking spaces.

While SPACE Architects + Planners designed a previous iteration, John Hanna is currently the listed architect of record. A recently published rendering by Hanna Architects shows a dark brick front exterior with recessed windows and balconies.

Nearest transportation comprises of stops for Routes 49 and X49 below the Western CTA L station, which is serviced by the Blue Line and available via a minute walk north. Additional buses within a four-minute walk north can be found for Routes 56 and 73 available along the convergence of Western, Armitage, & Milwaukee.
The new development will also be a two-minute walk from the elevated Bloomingdale Trail that spans east to west.
I & M Construction is the general contractor for the $2,020,000 project. A full completion timeline is not currently known.
