Chicago’s Most Expensive Condo Being Constructed By Director George Lucas

“Star Wars” creator George Lucas, have expanded his real estate portfolio with the purchase of a $11.2 million 66th-floor penthouse in Streeterville’s 800 N Michagan Avenue building from Citadel founder Ken Griffin. They plan to merge this penthouse with their existing 65th-floor condo, bought in 2015 for $18.75 million, to create a 16,000-square-foot duplex penthouse. The total cost for this project is estimated at $33.5 million, setting a new record for Chicago’s most expensive condo. Architect Scott Fortman of Gibbons, Fortman & Associates is overseeing the design, which includes adding two new interior staircases and upgrading electrical and mechanical systems as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Renderings have been revealed for the proposed RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville. Vacant for more than ten years, the project site is an infill site off of N Michigan Avenue. The midblock location is bound by two adjacent buildings spanning the block between N Michigan Avenue and N St. Clair Street. The Prime Group is the developer behind the proposal.

Approved 40 W Oak Street Tower is Chicago’s 16th Tallest Development

The newly approved 35-story residential tower at 40 W Oak Street takes the 16th spot in YIMBY’s Chicago’s tallest development countdown. The 466-foot-tall tower will rise at the northwest corner of the intersection of N Dearborn Street and W Oak Street in Rush & Division. The project site includes the existing Warren-Barr pavilion. The rehabilitative care center will remain on its site, with 50 parking spaces in the tower set aside specifically for visitors of the facility. Developer Nahla Capital is in charge of the project.
