Funding Secured For First Major Lakefront Study Since 1996

New funding has been secured for the protection and restoration of Chicago’s shoreline from Wilmette to East Side on the Indiana border. The funding comes from the $1.3 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed last November of which Illinois will receive $17 billion to improve highways, bridges, and water infrastructure among others. The first phase of spending in Chicago will go to a major study of the lakefront and execution of outstanding projects.

Construction Tops Off on Cirrus and Cascade at Lakeshore East

Construction has topped off on Cirrus and Cascade, a pair of residential towers located in Lakeshore East. Officially addressed at 211 N Harbor Drive and 455 E Waterside Drive, respectively, Cirrus and Cascade are part of the larger Lakeshore East development within the Parcels IJKL. The site sits between N Harbor Drive and Lake Shore Drive, just south of the multi-level Wacker Drive. The towers are being developed by Lendlease and Magellan Development Group, with bKL Architecture in charge of the design.

Navy Pier Flyover Phase 1

Third and Final Portion of Navy Pier Flyover Nears Completion

Recent photos show construction nearing completion for the final section of the Navy Pier Flyover, an above-grade portion of the Lakefront Trail that stretches close to third of a mile in length. Due to its staggered development timeline, the project currently serves cyclists and pedestrians via its completed first two phases, while the third phase alongside Outer Drive Bridge is still under construction.
