A residential development fronting Hastings Street, 13th Street, and Ashland Avenue on the Near West Side is progressing toward a partial opening next month. Three-story, six-unit buildings, all 10 of which were permitted back in August of last year, face south and north in the two-rowed complex. They’ll be the first homes ready, with June 1 announced as the initial move-in date.
Formal renderings have been released for the mixed-use development at 215 N Racine Avenue in Fulton Market. We first reported on the proposed tower just a few days ago, based on preliminary drawings from the developer’s zoning application. Since then, local developer Domus has unveiled updated renderings created by architecture firm Archeo Design Studio.
New plans have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 215 N Racine Avenue in Fulton Market. Located mid-block between W Lake Street to the south and W Fulton Street to the north, the proposed tower will replace an existing parking lot and a three-story commercial building. Local developer Domus has recently applied to rezone the site.
Two rows of residential buildings have begun construction, and some have topped out at their full three stories, on the city’s Near West Side. A dozen buildings are being developed here, with permits having been issued for the first eight back in August, and the final four permitted in November. Designed by Axios Architects, the project will deliver 72 dwelling units in total.
Demolition is underway on an L-shaped school building at 1310 South Ashland Avenue on the city’s Near West Side. The former home of Moses Montefiore School until 2016, and later Urban Prairie Waldorf School until its closing in June, the one- and two-story buildings are being cleared away to create space for a new residential development. The demo permit for the school was issued on August 21, with Heneghan Wrecking carrying out demo work.
