Demolition Permit Issued for 140 N Ashland Avenue in West Loop

Demolition permits have now been issued for a three-story building at 140 N Ashland Avenue in Near West Side, where developer Marquette Companies has planned a 12-story mixed-use building. The to-be-demolished edifice formerly housed the Women’s Treatment Center, which has since relocated as part of a downsizing. Its replacement will integrate with an adjacent 1920s-era brick and limestone building, offering 210 apartments in total.

Demolition Prep Begins at 140 N Ashland Avenue in Near West Side

Just south of the CTA L’s Ashland station, fencing can be seen around a three-story midcentury building, which upon its imminent demolition will be replaced by a new 12-story mixed-use building development. This 154-foot-tall project by Marquette Companies will integrate with a five-story 1920’s-era building at the south end of the block. The 140 N Ashland Avenue property previously housed the Women’s Treatment Center, whose operations are currently downsizing and prompted the organization to relocate.

City Council Approves Mixed-Use Development at 140 N Ashland Avenue in Near West Side

The Chicago City Council has approved a mixed-use development at 140 N Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side. Located at the intersection of N Ashland Avenue and W Lake Street, the project site is across from Union Park. The existing structure on the site is the current home of the Women’s Treatment Center, who will be downsizing their operation and moving out of the building. Marquette Companies is the developer behind the proposal.
