Initial site work has been spotted at the site of 817 W Lake Street in West Loop‘s Fulton Market district. Developer Sancerre Realty has planned for a new patio area to accompany the adjacent BLVD Steakhouse. While these plans were originally intended to be temporary in anticipation for a new seven-story mixed-use building, the permit filing from January this year indicates that the patio will be permanent.
The design of the new space is by the firm Aria Group Architects, which specializes in restaurants, hotels, and entertainment complexes. The latest revealed layout shows rows of four- and six-person dining tables, a bar, a fireplace, lounge alcoves at the north end of the parcel, in-ground plantings, and storage space at the south end along the alley. There will also be a six-foot-tall iron fence that wraps around along Lake Street and the intersecting Green Street.
Several transit options are available for diners and staff. Access to the CTA L’s Green and Pink Lines is readily accessible via a three-minute walk west to Morgan station. Other options include bus service for Route 8 stops just one block east along Halsted, as well as Route 20 stops within a 10-minute walk south.
LG Construction Group will serve as the general contractor for the work, which is expected to cost $100,000. While no timeline has yet been confirmed, a full completion this year would likely be feasible.
