Permits have been issued for a three-story residential building located at 3235 N Lakewood Avenue in Lake View. The development is filed under O’Neill Development Group, and is set to house four total units, along with four rear decks, a private roof deck, two penthouse enclosures, and a detached frame garage for five cars. The new structure will replace a previously occupying two-story masonry building.

A 2019 ordinance was passed allowing the zoning designation to convert from M1-2 (Limited Manufacturing/Business Park) to RT-4 (Residential Two-Flat, Townhouse and Multi-Unit).

Christopher Dasse of Craft Architecture is the architect of record. No drawings or renderings have yet been revealed, though the filing description has indicated a masonry design.

The nearest bus transit can be found a two-minute walk south to Belmont & Lakewood, with east and westbound stops for Route 77. Other buses within a 15-minute walk include Route 152 to the north, Routes 8 and 22 to the east, and Routes 9 and X9 to the west.

The CTA L is available via the Brown Line’s Southport station, a six-minute walk northwest, as well as the Red, Brown, and Purple Lines’ Belmont station 10-minute walk southeast.

Residents will find outdoor space in close proximity, with Margaret Donahue Park a two-minute walk northeast.

O’Neill Development Group is also serving as general contractor behind the $1.5 million construction, whose anticipated completion date is not currently known.

  1. seems like this charming little brick building could be beautifully adapted into a neighborhood mart or local eatery/bar. Aren’t there any empty lots or uglier available buildings nearby to demolish?
