YIMBY has new photos detailing the renovation progress on 35 N State Street, a three-story commercial retail building in The Loop.
The site is located at the corner of N State Street and E Washington Street, with bus access to numerous routes at that same Washington & State intersection. There is also a selection of CTA L transit options less than two blocks away, including Washington/Wabash station serviced by the Brown, Green, Orange, Pink, and Purple Lines, Washington station serviced by the Blue Line, and Lake station serviced by the Red Line.
Shoppers can also find a variety of other points of interest close by, including a dense collection of theaters, retail, and restaurants. Also nearby is Grant Park which is a five-minute walk east, the Chicago River which is a six-minute walk north, and the stretch of S Wabash Avenue coined “Jeweler’s Row,” is a three-minute walk southeast.
35 N State Street is owned and managed by The Georgetown Co. As reported last year by The Chicago Tribune, the entire 45,000 square feet of retail space will be leased to Primark, a popular European retailer known for low prices and its “fast-fashion” approach to catching immediate clothing trends.
Photos of the nearly complete renovation highlight key elements of the building’s one-year transformation. These include brighter-colored exterior masonry, clear windows that no longer include frosted glass, and newly-polished metal beams dividing the windows vertically.
Primark has not made any public announcements about an opening date. Given the current progress, construction work will likely wrap up very soon.
