City Council Approves Affordable Housing Project In North Lawndale

The Chicago City Council has approved an affordable mixed-use development at 3401 W Ogden Avenue in North Lawndale. Located on the southwest corner with S Homan Avenue, the new building replaces an existing flat parking lot used by the nearby police station. Dubbed ‘Grace Manor’ the project is the product of a developer venture between East Lake Management and Jerusalem CDC with local architecture firm JGMA as the designer.

City Announces Winners Of We Rise Together Grant

The seven winners of the We Rise Together grant have been announced across the south and west sides in predominantly Black and Latino communities. The $6.7 million grant is the result of a program from the Chicago Community Trust that began in 2020 as the pandemic disproportionately affected communities of color and is aimed at assisting the areas recover. Learning from the recession, the winners range from small businesses to new construction representing the resilience of all Chicago’s neighborhoods.

The Committee on Zoning has approved the rezoning for a new mixed-use development at 3401 W Ogden Avenue in North Lawndale. Developer East Lake Management & Development Co. filed to rezone from Planned Development 833 to Residential Planned Development, partnering with local design firm JGMA on the project which will replace an existing parking lot with a small basketball court on the corner with S Homan Avenue.

Department Of Transportation Confirms Additional 45 Miles Of Bike Lanes in 2022

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) confirms plans to finish building nearly 100 miles of new and improved bike lanes over the next year throughout the City of Chicago. In a collaboration with the Chicago Community Cycling Network, the city will continue to work with locals to identify gaps in the current bike network system as the number of bikers increase every year.
