An early February permit allows for the construction of three-story, three-unit residential building at 1244 South Springfield Avenue in the North Woodlawn community. A private developer registered to an address in Hoffman Estates applied for the permit on September 11 of last year, and it came through on February 4 with a reported cost of $300,000.
Senga Architects of River North is named as the architect of record, and SRGIG LLC as the general contractor. The masonry structure will have an attached rear porch, but no other specifics are detailed in the permit. Three surface parking spaces will be included on a concrete slab located at the rear of the property, accessed from the alley off West 13th Street. The subject parcel, just north of the intersection with 13th Street, is currently vacant, so no demolition permit will be required to get work started.

1244 South Springfield is one block south of the CTA’s Route 12 bus line at Roosevelt Road, and two blocks east of Route 53 stops at Pulaski Road. The closest elevated train platform, the Pulaski Blue Line, is more than three-quarters of a mile north at the Eisenhower Expressway, but the #53 bus can be used as a connection. The Pulaski Pink Line platform is a tad farther away, to the south at 21st Street, but the #53 bus is again available as a connection.
