Three concrete cores and two levels’ worth of steel mark progress on the residential development at 227 West Chicago Avenue in River North. Corrugated metal has been added to begin the third floor atop most of the ironwork as the structure heads toward its ultimate 10-story finish. There was also some sub-grade activity near the southeast edge of the parcel when we visited the site last week.
Construction has quickly transitioned from foundation work to verticality for the residential building at 227 West Chicago Avenue in River North. Concrete cores are just about eye level with the adjacent Chicago elevated platform that abuts the construction site to the west. The cores are at the second level now, on their way ultimately to ten stories.
On our last site visit to River North last month, we got a glimpse of foundation work at 227 West Chicago Avenue. Work had just started, and only included one corner of the construction site. Now, that progress has spread to the entire footprint as efforts ramp up on the new residential building.
Partial funding has been secured, and building permits have been issued for the mixed-use development at 227 West Chicago Avenue in River North. Located at the corner of North Franklin Street, the upcoming mid-rise will replace a vacant lot that previously held a one-story commercial building.
A caisson permit has been issued to begin construction on a ten-story residential building at 227 West Chicago Avenue in the River North neighborhood. A stormwater management permit preceded caissons on August 25. The full building permit, applied for on April 29, remains pending in the Chicago Data Portal.
