A demolition permit is imminent for the former United Christian Church at 1055 West Diversey Parkway in Lincoln Park, as a new construction permit has been issued for the property. On September 4, the City of Chicago issued a permit allowing Contemporary Concepts to build their planned five-story, 24-unit residential development on the site. Crews were out the following day prepping the church for demolition.

Contemporary Concepts has submitted a zoning application for a proposed residential development at 1055 W Diversey. The project site, currently housing a church. The new development, designed by Studio Dwell Architects, is planned to be a five-story building with 24 residential units, standing 58 feet tall. The exterior will feature a brick cladding with metal accent panels and limestone on the ground floor windows.

Located just west of the intersection with N Sheffield Avenue on the northern edge of the neighborhood, the project will be replacing an existing church building. The proposal is being led by developer Contemporary Concepts with Studio Dwell Architects working on its design.
