The Tower Crane Is In the Air At Loyola University’s Nursing And Sciences Building

The tower crane that will build Loyola University’s Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and the College of Arts and Sciences building has been erected and is doing heavy lifting. A visit on May 13 showed only the base planted on the site, but a Purple Line Express ride on Thursday of last week revealed a complete crane. One enormous street crane was still on site when we passed by, but we can’t say for sure which days it worked on assembly the full rig.

Foundation Set For 4650 North Magnolia In Uptown

The foundation is in the ground for the fast-moving residential development at 4650 North Magnolia Avenue in Uptown. Little more than a month ago, there was an 1890-built frame residence on this lot. But that was dispatched within a week’s time after a demolition permit came through on April 6, and the site was excavated immediately for new construction.

Mixed-Use Tower Fully Approved At 1338 West Lake Street In West Loop

The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use proposal at 1338 West Lake Street in the West Loop. In the works for a few years now, the high-rise would sit on the corner with North Ada Street and replace a large vacant lot that formerly housed Hindman Auctioneers until its demolition late last year. Plans were also approved by the Plan Commission earlier this year.

1150 West Diversey Parkway construction update

Three Of Four Stories Achieved At 1150 West Diversey Parkway In Lake View

Construction progress has reached the third floor on a four-story plus basement residential building at 1150 West Diversey Parkway on the south edge of Lake View. JEK Development of Glen Ellyn is erecting two units here, likely condominiums, and will add a two-car garage at the rear of the property once structural work is mostly complete on the residences.

City Council Approves Affordable Development In Humboldt Park

The Chicago City Council has approved zoning for the upcoming mixed-use affordable development at 3251 West Division Street in Humboldt Park. Revealed earlier this year at the intersection with North Spaulding Avenue, the project would replace a large vacant lot on the western end of the neighborhood.
