Move-ins have begun as an opening has been held for the mixed-use development known as ‘Inside Info Fremont’ at 1549 North Fremont Street in the Near North Side. Sitting just south of the intersection with West North Avenue, the project broke ground in late 2024 and replaced a large vacant lot surrounded by a car dealership garage.

Developers CityPads and Wayland Real Estate Capital are behind the five-story project, which was designed by NORR Architects. Capping out at 75 feet in height, it features an active streetfront with 8,000 square feet of divisible commercial space, a residential lobby, and an entrance to the 29-vehicle parking garage in the rear.

This lower level is clad in a gray brick facade, with the upper levels featuring a multi-tone tan metal panel exterior. The low-rise holds 132 residential units made up of 112 studios, 12 one-bedroom, and eight three-bedroom layouts. These units are arranged around a central courtyard, with a large mural painted on the wall of the dealership garage in the rear.

Residents will all have access to a large shared garden within the courtyard, along with a large rooftop deck facing east. With a price tag of $40 million, ENC Construction and Development built the structure. The project joins other nearby high-rises that have recently been completed or are underway as the area pivots from retail to residential.

Too bad they could not bury that electrical in the alley. Now those terraces get to look right at it, with all the hissing.
Or somebody could pay to have them relocated a bit farther the alley next to the garage blank wall.
This has to be the most hideous facade I’ve seen in a long time, but I’m glad I no longer have to look at that abandoned looking parking lot that was there for 15 years so I guess it’s a win. Also, Inside info ? 😂🤣 who in the world came up with that as a name for an apartment building? 😂
Hard to take a lot of people in this forum seriously when you all comment on the appearance constantly. This is the worst facade you’ve seen? Seriously?
This isn’t even the worst facade in its neighborhood. It isn’t pretty but like, it replaced a vacant lot lol.
I think it should be renamed “The Dahmer.”
They will not get the rent they’d hoped from those units with outdoor terraces because of those poles and wires. This is clearly a ‘discount’ developer.
While I agree those specific poles should have been moved, the reality is that people have paid premium prices to live next to utility poles, bus turnarounds, CTA/Metra tracks and other disruptive environments for the entire history of our city.
132 units to 29 parking spots is a great ratio. Love to see it.
