Exterior work is getting closer to completion on the topped-out Wicker Park Place at Milwaukee and Haddon Avenues in Wicker Park. Designed by Milbury Architects, the four-story, 14-unit residential building from developer and general contractor Wicker Park Apartments broke ground just over a year ago, and is slated to welcome its first tenants this fall.

Dwelling units will include a mix of studio, convertible, and one-bedroom floor plans. Most will be on the second through fourth floors, with two units occupying the first floor. Also included at ground level will be a single commercial space, a package room, beverage center, and the residential lobby. What will not be included on the ground floor is a spot to park a car; the ultimate Transit Oriented Development, Wicker Park Place will have zero parking spaces.

You can find more information about units and availability at the building’s website.

  1. By the renders, the sidewalk looks like it got a bump out. Are they planning to do some road dieting, or is this just a dramatization? Missed opportunity not to get some trees along the side. A honeylocust yellow in fall would do wonders with the color scheme.

  2. OK, I’ll bite. What’s a beverage center? :).

  3. I have worked with WPA in the past, and actually got to look at an earlier draft of this project. If memory serves, they were trying to stick a single parking spot, maybe 2 in that version. But look at the flexibility and efficiency of going no-parking! Parking minimums punish all lots, but they doubly punish small and irregularly shaped ones.

In terms of aesthetics… its not exactly a looker, but oh well

  4. I hope that blue turns out better than the renderings look…. but I don’t have high hopes lol

  5. I want to see some blue brick.
