Construction progress has risen above foundation level for the Kensington School West Loop at 1220 West Adams Street in the West Loop. General contractor Charles Hall Construction got started on the building last fall, after receiving permission to begin on August 26, 2024. Charles Vincent George Architects is the architect of record, as they have been for each Kensington School development in the city.

The three-story building will be the third campus of the Kensington School in Chicago, with the first already open at 2745 North Lincoln Avenue, and the second school still under construction but further along in Bucktown. A fourth school is planned in the South Loop neighborhood. The Bucktown and West Loop locations are both expected to open this year. The South Loop campus was permitted for construction in September 2022, but is not yet underway.

The new school replaces a former Boy Scouts of America office building and retail shop, which was demolished in spring 2024 after a demo permit was issued on June 6.

The school is located within a two-block walk of Chicago Transit Authority bus service via Routes 20 and 126. The CTA’s Racine Blue Line elevated platform, three blocks south at the Eisenhower Expressway, is closed for renovation, but should reopen before construction of the new school is complete.
