A 42-unit residential building is progressing at 5151 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square. The five-story development replaces a one-story building at 5151 and a two-story structure at 5153 N Lincoln Avenue. Both were permitted for demolition August 16, 2022.

The City of Chicago issued a new construction permit for 5151 N Lincoln Avenue on October 3, 2022. That permit, for a Hanna Architects-designed building, called for 42 dwelling units on the second through fifth floors. Twenty parking spaces will be included with retail space on the ground floor.

Foster and Lincoln LLC is named as the developer of the project, a nod to the intersection at which it’s being built. An October 2023 revision saw general contractor duties reassigned to DOM Properties.

Residents of 5151 N Lincoln Avenue will have bus service for Routes 11 and 92 right outside their doors. A block-and-a-half walk east will take them to the Routes 49, 49B, and X49 stop. Routes 11 and 49 can be used to connect with the Brown Line at the CTA Western station about 3/4 of a mile to the south.

  1. Great project and much needed density. BTW, it’s 7/10ths of a mile to the Western Ave Brown Line stop. May seem like nit picking with the description of “about a mile” but it’s a big difference if you’re walking it twice a day.

  2. Only 20 car spaces for 42 residential units plus retail?
