The City of Chicago has issued permits for a new construction project at 2041 W Augusta Boulevard in Ukrainian Village. The projected, with an estimated budget of $2,234,100, will involve the construction of a three-story building housing five dwelling units, complete with a basement and rooftop deck.
John Hanna is spearheading the architectural design of the project. Panoptic Group Inc, a Chicago-based general contractor, is overseeing the entire construction process. Masonry work will be handled by B&K Concrete and RDY Construction Inc. The property is owned by 2041-43 W Augusta LLC.
When complete, 2041 W Augusta Boulevard will be located steps from bus stops for Route 50, with stops for Route 66 via a seven-minute walk to the south. Beyond that, the Division CTA station, which services the Blue Line, will be an 18-minute walk to the northeast of the property.

A cottage lined street, it’s very disappointing that one of these are being destroyed for what is to sure become another soulless, gray box.
Perhaps Hanna’s MO is to present designs that will convince neighbors and neighborhood groups that the new construction will incorporate attractive and appropriate elements and materials. However, as Hanna explained to the Wicker Park neighborhood group in regards to one of his prior designs, he is just the architect and can make no promises that his designs will be implemented. Accordingly, the end result may wind up being the “soulless, gray box” described in the comment above at the discretion of a developer/investor/contractor.
