Situated at 679 N Michigan Avenue on the Magnificent Mile, a retail redevelopment project is progressing with its facade work. The building, which previously housed an Apple Store and featured the ‘Rapt on The Mile’ mural by Nick Cave and Bob Faust, is undergoing transformation under the direction of Nick Canellis and will encompass four total levels with H&M as its tenant.
The redesign, spearheaded by Hirsch MPG, entails a comprehensive interior and exterior revamp. This overhaul includes installing a new storefront system along both Michigan Avenue and Huron Street, altering the basement exit staircase, creating a new opening on the second floor, and constructing a three-story internal staircase to enhance accessibility. The new facade being built around the existing steel skeleton is composed of tan paneling.
The site is accessible by public transportation, being near bus routes 2, 3, 10, 26, 125, 143, 146, 147, 148, 151, and 157. Additionally, it is located a nine-minute walk from the CTA Red Line’s Grand Station.
Overseen by Trellis Group LLC, the construction project has a reported budget of $3 million according to its issued permit and is slated for completion in 2024.

Four stories? I assume the includes the basement and that bump up in the rear of the building??
Hi Steve, you are correct! Permit listed this as four levels which include that rear section and the basement
That’s not “tan paneling”. That’s limestone.
